French Art Deco JOMA Vase

ChateauAntiques

  • .

JOMA Montreuil operated between 1925 and 1940. Their known catalogue of signed vases are very collectable as it is considered possible to (with time), collect a complete set—I know of only half-a-dozen models. Here we have the 'drapes and lance' Art Deco design. There is a little confusion over the origins of the mark, as to whether there was once a Mr Joma or not. I'm sure the debate will continue, but as there are records showing Messieurs Joseph Bourdieu and Max Durand with a glass factory at 45 bis, rue du Sergent Bobillot at Montreuil-sous-Bois, near Paris, during the same French Art Deco period, I think we can safely say it was a combination of these two gents' names.

Very good depth of definition to the pressed, frosted, pate de verre, which glows white.

In great condition as you will see from the photos. Please let me know if I can help with any other information.
