A beautiful pair of Charles Catteau Art Deco vases.
Hand-painted with the Atelier de Fantasie design 1558, 'polychrome design with floral motifs on a dark blue background', this is a rare design—and of course even more rare to find existing as a pair.
The colour pallet is a classic one used by Charels Catteau in the Art Deco period, and this design 'D1558' is catalogued as being painted in mid-1932.
The vase form is very sweet, with nice curves, and is form 675, which is registered as having the following dimensions - collar diameter 44 mm; height 172 mm; and base diameter 54 mm.
One vase has a totally sound hairline crack discolouring to the interior of the neck which is just to the internal glaze, nothing more.
At Chateau Antiques we are lucky enough to be specialists in Charles Catteau Art Deco and Boch Freres vases. More information and photos on both the manufacturer and artist can be found in our blog post here.
