French Art Deco Sideboard clock by BAYARD in oak veneer and bronze.
'Buffets' or sideboards were a prominent feature in any stylish French Art Deco interior of the 1920s and 1930s.
Often with central glass doors, the utility of the furniture could be further enhanced by use as display cabinets for other French Art Deco vases, etc.
This clock would have sat either on top of a buffet or on a mantlepiece in the same room as one, echoing the lines and proportions.
The plinth to the bottom of the clock and the curved edges are typical of so many of the buffets we once had for sale locally, here in France.
The Art Deco styling to the bronze clock face and numerals works wonderfully in contrast to the oak, and I'm delighted that the BAYARD logo is still in place.
