A silver alloy manufacturer whose work is quite easy to date, the ORIVIT company was based in Kohln, Germany, from 1894 until 1905, when it was bought out by Art Nouveau legends WMF. WMF continued to use the branding (although the logo changed) only until 1914, spanning the entire Art Nouveau era.
This deep fruit or bread bowl was made in the original ORVIT Art Nouveau period, 1894-1905, and has an organic reed decoration and strong folded detailing.
The silver alloy used polishes up nicely. I must admit I've not had to try too hard to get this ready for the photos.
Having such a short production period, ORIVIT makes a great investment as it is so collectable—they didn't make too much silverware at all, which of course makes it rare from its beginning.
