French Art Deco Deer Group Sculpture

ChateauAntiques

  • Huge French Art Deco sculpture, a study of two deer in marble and cold-painted spelter.
  • Beautiful, isn't it?
  • I like the way the deer have an alert, cautious look to them and seem ready to take off at any moment. The piece has the feeling of captured motion.
  • The cast spelter (so typical of the French Art Deco period) has a great bronze patina.
  • A nice combination of different coloured marble to the plinth, and all bolted into place and filled with the original Plaster of Paris.
  • In good condition and, as far as I am aware, a unique group setting for these two deer, at a price which is far from being... too dear!! (Apologies to any non-English speakers, but I can assure you that that is a very funny joke.)
  • I currently have a pair of French Art Deco bookends also on sale that would make a nice compliment to this sculpture. They are on this website, unless recently sold.
  • Any questions, of for more photos or information... please get in touch.
